PBBM, tanging head of state na kinausap ni US Pres. Biden sa sidelines ng UNGA?
Nagpulong sa unang pagkakataon sina Pangulong Marcos Jr. at US President Biden sa sidelines ng United Nations General Assembly sa New York, USA.
Ayon naman kay Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles, si Pres. Marcos Jr. ang tanging head of state na nakausap ni Pres. Biden mula sa 48 requests na makaharap ito.
Sa talakayan nina Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at Pangulong Joseph R. Biden Jr., kanilang sinariwa ang mahigit isang daang taong ugnayan ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.
Nagpakita ang parehong panig ng hangaring pagtibayin pa ang relasyon ng dalawang bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan, partikular sa sektor ng enerhiya, pag-ahon mula sa COVID-19, at pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at respeto sa karapatang pantao.
"Today I met with President Marcos of the Philippines. Our nations' relationship is rooted in democracy, common history, and people-to-people ties, including millions of Filipino-Americans who enrich our nation. Our alliance is strong and enduring."
While President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. stated that he is optimistic about our bilateral relationship with the US.
"We thank the President of the United States, His Excellency Joseph R. Biden Jr., for meeting with us today. We talked about the deeply rooted relationship of both our countries and the millions of Filipino-Americans and Filipinos residing in the US that tie us together. We are optimistic that we can further strengthen our alliance as we work together towards improving the quality of life for both our peoples."
